Our backpacks are made from sustainable hemp fibre; one of the most sustainable fibres on this earth! Did you know even natural materials can be harmful to the environment? Not Hemp! It gives back to the land year after year and provides a plentiful source of income for rural Nepalese villages.

Handcrafted In Nepal

All of our bags are skillfully handcrafted by small family-run businesses in Nepal. Each bag is lovingly made in Kathmandu, a city full of rich heritage and culture. Our hemp is grown, harvested and spun in Bajura village in the Himalayas. It is woven by women using traditional techniques passed on through generations.

Durable and long-lasting

Hemp is one of the longest and strongest natural fibres, four times stronger than cotton! This means your bag will last for years to come, no need for throw-away fast fashion! 13,000,000 Tonnes of cheaply made fast fashion items end up in landfill every year, but with our bags, they'll by your side for a long long time!

Practical and fashionable!

The Tula backpacks have a laptop insert that fits up to a 15-inch screen, which means its perfect for school or university! The straps are padded for extra comfort so you can carry about all those heavy books! The hemp bags also have two bottle pouches on either side. You won't have to choose between a reusable coffee cup or a water bottle and don't have to risk putting it in your bag!

Every order placed with Hemp & Hope helps to replenish forests around the world! We work with the non-profit organisation OneTreePlanted who use our donation to plant trees on your behalf! You don't even have to pay a penny extra!

Eco-Friendly Packaging

We get it! There's nothing worse than receiving a package wrapped in awful plastic tape and non-recyclable materials! We ONLY use biodegradable materials in our packaging, we would never pass the waste burden on to you! We use paper tape and recycled kraft boxes meaning that everything can be easily recycled in the same bin!

Who are we?

Hemp & Hope is a female-owned sustainable brand focused on giving back with everything we do! We're not really in it for the money.. we are simply passionate about ethical fashion! Hemp & Hope was started during a backpacking trip to India and Nepal in 2019. We fell in love with the country and its people and wanted to give something back! We design all of our bags here in Scotland and work with talented makers in Nepal to bring them to life! We are so excited to have you along on this journey with us!

Returns

If the item isn't right for you, we offer 30 day returns on all products. As long as the item is unworn, unwashed and in resell-able condition we will accept your return no questions asked. Hello! Im Danielle, the founder of Hemp & Hope. In August 2019, I took an eye-opening backpacking trip around India and Nepal. I was blown away by the breath-taking sunsets, architecture and culture; But for the first time in my sheltered life, I was confronted with extreme poverty and polluted streets. I had a huge wakeup call as I realised the role, I had to play in all of this. The choices I made when buying clothing directly impacted people's lives. By buying into 'fast fashion', I contributed to a cycle of poverty, dangerous working conditions and waste. After seeing this first-hand, I decided I had to make a change, and so the idea for Hemp & Hope was born!

We met with suppliers in Nepal who made beautiful bags from sustainable Hemp fibre. We visited their factory and made sure they were working fairly and in a safe environment. We bought a small package of backpacks, and upon returning home, I set up a new business!

We design all of our bags and clothing here in Scotland, UK and have them made by our wonderful makers in Nepal. Our hemp is harvested and spun by women in Baglung and Bajura Villages in the Himalayan mountains. It is then sent to Kathmandu and Pokhara to be made into our garments.

We want to be much more than just a brand! We refuse to contribute to the problem and have sworn to be a part of the solution. Thank you for joining us on this slow fashion journey!
